Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

Postby tnltracy » Fri Apr 15, 2016 9:18 am

Well folks, it's that time of year again. Cleaning, repairing, buffing. I'm hoping for an early May return to the water this year and that's got me thinking about another get together this summer. Last year's was pretty casual, but it was great to have a bunch of Freedoms together in one place, and meet & greet.

Would love to do it again this year, and hopefully coordinate something a bit more detailed to get to know folks better, and get us all under sail together.

Looking ahead to the summer, Newport Jazz Fest falls the weekend of 29-31, so maybe we can build around that weekend, or target the first couple weekends in August as options.

Location wise, Dutch Harbor worked out nicely last year, but I'm always up for a change of scenery, so open to suggestions from folks with ideas on good anchorages/ or mooring options for a group.

I'm all for another gathering, there are so many good spots in the bay to even if we do Dutch again but plan a round island sail one of the days.
cheers,

We are supposed to be closing on a Freedom 40/40 this Friday and are planning on keeping her in Pirate's Cove Marina in RI, so we'll be in the area. Assuming everything goes well with the boat and the launch, we may be up to join you for a Freedom get-together. We have yet to sail a Freedom, but are really looking forward to it!

Looking forward to another get together. I will be taking off on my summer cruise/vacation toward the end of July. I hope we can do it early July this year. It's good to hear that there will be another 40/40. It was a great time last year and it will be better this year.

Let's not let this fizzle out.
Can we stir up some interest?
I am going to need to leave for my vacation trip early, so I can really only do this over 4th of July weekend.
While things are more crowded that weekend, there is always room at Dutch Harbor.

July 4th weekend sounds fun, I like the idea of this gathering momentum and not fizzling

Looking like I'm going to have to defer some of the planning work for the G2G this year due to workload. 4th of July sounds fun, with appropriate plans to avoid the crowds and crazies...

I'll check on mooring availability at Dutch Harbor for that weekend and advise.

There is no need for a mooring at Dutch Harbor. It is one of the few places where there is always room.

I'm not going to be able to join the weekend of 4th of July as I'll be sailing in Maine, hoping someone can take on coordination to ensure this new tradition continues. Craig, would you be able to lead the coordination and details for 4th of July weekend?
