I am considering the purchase of a Pedrick Freedom 35. All the ones for sale
that I've seen have a wing keel. I think I would prefer the fin keel. I live
in the Pacific Northwest and draft is rarely an issue. Upwind performance is
important to me. From what I can see, the wing keel rates 9-15 seconds a mile
slower than the fin keel. I expect the performance penalty is all upwind. So,
a couple of question, if I may:
1) Any idea how many fin keels F35s were built in comparison to wing keels.
They seem to be rare. Are they?
2) I'd like to hear input from anyone who has sailed both versions, regarding
relative performance.
Thanks!
David
