installing the jib pole in the sail UP or Down?

Was installing the Jib pole on my Freedom 36. Does the jib pole bend up or down?
1st year putting on sails.

If you're talking about the camber spar, then I always install it with the arch pointing up. I also use rig the boom vang line to pull back on the grommets to get it over the ears on the camber spar.

Just wanted to say thank you for getting back to me. I did place the arch pointing up. lucky call.
Regarding the ears over the camber, how far back should that be , as I am on the 1st hole ( slot).

I actually ripped my headsail getting it over the horns. I now realize ( which may seem obvious ) that the sail was cut to short.
