Freedom 40 & Freedom 40/40

Post by moskma »

Thinking of getting back into a Freedom, and trying to determine if there are any differences, and substantial differences in particular between a Freedom 40 and a Freedom 40/40. Admittedly this difference may just be how the model is referenced by sellers/brokers. And by freedom 40, I am not referring to the cc catch ketch. Any thoughts/observations would be most welcome.

thanks

The Pedrick design (starting 1994 or 5) is referred to as the 40/40. Anything from that generation is the same. The early ones had a taller mast, but some people cut them down to make it more ICW friendly.
I have the original mast with the deep keel, so I am definitely not ICW friendly.
The boat is very fast though, and sails great.
I called David Pedrick before purchasing the boat, and the tall-deep model was his favorite.
The older 40's are a whole different animal.
