40/40 one off?

Post by Rbrand »

I have long been interested in the Freedom 40/40 after chartering one from Freedom in the BVI. I see one for sale, supposedly built for the President of Freedom yachts. However it is described as a full keel with a draft of only 5'6", which doesn't compute? It is also described as a "lightweight" but the displacement is not noted. Is this known? What are the sacrifices?

According to the YachtWorld listing, the hull is vacuum bagged and resin infused. That was not standard on Freedoms and results in a lighter hull because the process uses less resin. As to draft, it is listed as a 5'6" fin. You might call Paul Dennis of Warren River Boatworks; he worked at Freedom and is very generous with his time.
