Speedi-Sleeve purchasing guide

Here is a guide to the various Speedi-Sleeve sizes available along with part numbers. Two applications where I've used these on my boats have been on front pulleys and on water pump shafts. At the moment I'm looking because the front pulley on our 4-108 has a groove warn in it from the seal. This is a common problem with many engines and the speedi-sleeve is one solution. When I get around to making the repair I'll try and post some pictures in the Mechanical section.

OK, maybe I'm a bit slow, but exactly what problem are you solving with this?

When you have groove worn in a shaft where an oil seal contacts it. Just replacing the seal will only work temporarily as the groove worn on the shaft will "eat" a new seal much quicker than it should. The speedi-sleeve is an inexpensive field repair that renews the sealing surface. I poked around in my junk and was able to find a front pulley that has a good mating surface so I won't need a speedi-sleeve this go around.
