Hello,

I live in France and I have bought a Freedom 33 cat-ketch in june.
This sailboat was situated in Bristol and, alone, I cross the north atlantic,
by the shortest route.

I don't succed to know who designed exactly the first Freedom ?
Is it Herreshoff or Garry Hoyt ?
It concern the Freedom 28/33/35/44…

Thanks a lot.

Hey Lorenzo,

A warm welcome to the first French contributor to this board! The hull of the F33 catketch (F35 in the UK) was designed by Jay Paris after conceptualization of Garry Hoyt. The original first Freedom 40 catketch was conceptualized by Hoyt as well, and designed by Francis Herreshoff. The same duo for the F44 which was designed as a cruiser/racer based on the F40 aft cockpit. Other models were designed by Pedrick (F35 sloop), Gary Mull (several models), and Ron Holland (F39PHS)

Would you tell us about your singlehanded Atlantic crossing?

Not to forget Ron Holland, 39PHS

Welcome to the Forum! Michel doesn't count me because I'm only half French. :) I'm also interested in your crossing. Kerri and I will cross from the U.S. to the Mediterranean next summer. I have family in Les Issambres and we plan to visit there. Where are you in France?
