Ah.. knockdown.. three times so far!
Once, because I didn't know any better. Close haul, feathering and wind shift. Wind in low 30's with gusts. Safety lines and windows were in the water. Water spilling into the cubby. Popped right back up, no issue.
Second time time for a self check... hauled in close, kicked her over and swoosh.

Third time was for fun.. had gone out on a blustery day. The girl who came along said she wanted to sail for fun and not reef. On the way back I hauled the boom in, kicked her over and caught a gust.. She was halfway in the water laughing her head off. Her father kept asking "Do I need to get her.. Do I need to get her.. " Told him no.. just wait.. and up we came.

The winds do have to be up a bit.

Yes, I have established that a Freedom-38 cannot reach at full hoist in 30 knots or more. Beating is good, though.
