Sailing a Freedom 30

Post by rvivian »

Finally ready to start sailing Heart's Desire.

How does one get the most out of sailing a Freedom 30? Anyone have any tips or guidance set-up, reefing ranges, etc.?

Thanks

I bought my Freedom 30 last year in July and sailed about every day the first month in many different conditions. My previous boat was an Ericson 27, and I couldn't be happier now. I think the boat points up just fine, and I rarely reef under 20kts. Sort of depends what kind of sailing you do. I'm not a racer, but love the challenge of making her move quick. If you have a nice steady breeze, I'd say just set up a tack and play with the sheets while looking at your hull speed. I keep the boat a hair off the wind by comparison to the Ericson, but once done she can really go. Love to hear how you are making out. Seems like once we all get IN our boats for the season, we stop posting here!
