Freedom21 Yahoo Group

Postby GeoffSchultz » Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:44 pm

It seems that the Freedom21 group on Yahoo is very protective of their membership. I've been talking with Max Lent and he's been posting things on the new server, but when I went to post the following on the Freedom21 group, which is TIGHTLY moderated, here's what came back...

There are other ways. At least to get the word to members who have posted there.

I suspect that "inviting them to move over" might have been interpreted as being somewhat predatory.

If I'd been a moderator of that group, I probably wouldn't have approved a message ending that way either.

Perhaps an invitation to "add us to your list of resources" might have been better received.

It also doesn't hurt to point out that we are totally free, non-commercial, & without advertising...along with mentioning that this is a bulletin board format designed for member input (as opposed to a top-down website).

Instead of guessing we could just ask the guy what he had a problem with? I don't like my own idea above of simply getting the unmasked emails (doable) and cold emailing everyone from outside of the list. I guess it would tick me off if someone sent me an email like that. It's not a good sign that the moderator there just disapproved the post without comment.

Or we could just say "f" em. Probably most of them know about us by now anyway from interaction with the other list or will find us sooner or later some other way after Geoff's excellent link seeding.
