Floor/Sole Varnish/Urethane Recommendations

I'm about to refinish the sole of BlueJacket and was looking for suggestions as to what to use for a finish. Dave, at Brewer Sakonnet suggested using a urethane as it's harder than varnish. I'd really like to use a latex to keep down the VOHCs. Any suggestions?

I have used a product called ultimate sole for several years now. Its a special urethane if I remember correctly that has excellent non skid properties. It is a high gloss finish yet secure under foot (not sure how they accomplished that). It s not for exterior use.
I'm very happy with it. Its easy to apply although a lot of coats are required for a really good finish. Its easy to touch up.

Thanks for the tip on Ultimate Sole (http://www.ultimatesole.com/), but it only comes in gloss and I want satin. The entire boat is finished in Epifanes Hand-Rubbed Effect varnish, which is basically satin. So, I don't want to have a glossy sole.

I have satin finish on everything but the sole and table. It actually looks good but to each his own. I felt the non skid property was well worth the high gloss. You might contact them maybe you can add something to it to lower the gloss. It really seems unique and safer.

Geoff,

I have to second the vote for Ultimate Sole. We are going to use it on Marquesa. A friend of mine did his Allied that way. We put water on it (which beaded up) and tried to make ourselves skid on it with bare feet. We could not slide on it. It grips like nobody's business!
