A success... I think

Post by sailmon »

We have owned our 1991 Freedom 38 for about 8 years. The deadlights (fixed ports) were badly clouded when we took posession of Her Diamond. Each year I would attempt to clear the windows a bit by polishing them with Brasso - with only limited success. Additionally the improvement would only last around 3 months. Couple days ago, I purchased a McGuire's automotive headlight polishing kit. Instructions were easy to follow and the polishing process erasy to do. It basically involved wet sanding the window first with 1000 grit paper and then 3000 grit. This step was followed by polishing with a speical polish included in the kit. The small drill bit buffing wheel also came with the kit. Results were amazing - port is crystal clear. The only question that remains is how long the "fix" will last. Stay tuned.
