Has anyone modified their nav station?

Post by gamayun »

I am thinking of changing the nav station in my F38 so it has a small bench against the aft berth wall, which is where the hanging locker is now. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and how it turned out? Alternatively, has anyone modified the pull-out stool so it better accommodates someone sitting there while on a starboard tack on the high seas...?

Thanks for any and all thoughts!!

I've seen a few cruising boats with a helm seat attached to the stern rail with a molded in seat back - almost looks like a tractor seat - made out of fiberglass with some built in padding. I've been thinking about looking for one to use in the nav station on our F38. I can't see giving up the "wet locker" - which we use as a pantry and also houses our inverter and the back of our SSB.
