Used Spinnaker suprise

I blew out my old .75 oz spinnaker during a race. I went to replace it at a local sailmaker and found a near ideal size used sail to replace it. The sail is in excellent condition. I assumed I would need a patch sewn into the sail for the retrieval line but I was amazed the used sail already had the patch and a retrieval line.

Man, that was easy! Pretty reasonable price too.

Is the presence of a retrieval line attached to the center of the sail something that is common on conventional spinnakers?

Second question, the spinnaker is made of 1.2 oz cloth. This is a good bit heavier than .75 obviously. Maybe not a bad thing for sailing in the SF Bay Area? Any thoughts on this?

FWIW, I kinda like the heavier cloth. Less likely to stretch/rip. Have had that repair before. Best.
