How to adjust low throttle on 3gm30

Post by Ereiss »

My, new to me, F38 is idling at about 1500 to 1800. Can someone offer the idiot's guide to lowering it without lowering the top end rpms?

thanks

The accelerator should run stop to stop. If it doesn't, then you should be able to adjust it. Yanmar used a spring loaded cable end on those motors and you should come up against that (in other words that spring should compress somewhat) when you have full accelerator selected from the helm. If the accelerator hits the bottom stop and you still have a high idle speed you can adjust the stop. I'd put a hand held mechanical or optical tach on the motor first just to confirm the low RPM.
