The diver that I engaged to replace the zinc can't seem to figure out the 3 hole 6 hole issue, claims it just doesn't fit. Makes me want to dive in and replace it myself. BUT would have to be with snorkel, fins and weights.
Has anyone done this procedure in the water that way? Any learnings you can share? Yeah, I know, don't drop anything, but if you've done it I'm sure you figured out the best way to get it done.
Would appreciate any advice.

Re: MaxProp Zinc replacement
Ed,
I've replaced mine many times, but always using scuba gear. Maybe you can hold your breath far longer than I can, but it takes a while to do this job. I personally can't imagine doing it without scuba.
Note that the new zincs are universal, so that they fit all of the configurations. I must admit that I haven't checked out how to make it fit, but I know that by rotating it that I made it fit.

Re: MaxProp Zinc replacement
Diver claims he rotates but to no effect. I think he rotates but uses the same, wrong hole group. Guess I will just have to talk him through it. He says he has done it many times.
Thanks, Geoff.
Thanks, Geoff.

Re: MaxProp Zinc replacement
Sorry to ask this dumb question, but are you sure that you have the right sized zinc? I believe that my MaxProp uses 70 mm zincs.

Re: MaxProp Zinc replacement
Yes, pretty sure. I call PYI who said the 63 mm were the same ones I ordered in 2008 which I used successfully.
I'm thinking I need to color code the two sets of holes and make sure he tries both sets. It could be he keeps selecting the same, wrong, set to try. Can't think of anything else.

Re: MaxProp Zinc replacement
I just checked my database and I use 70 mm, but who knows if we have the same MaxProp. You know that you can get them from WestMarine & not have to pay shipping.
