venting loop

Post by lee »

on my freedom 30 I have a U shaped pipe with a bolt on top in the top step compartment in my companionway that seems to be leaking a bunch when the engine is running. Is this a vented loop for the raw water cooling system and if so is it stock?
could someone tell me the type (brand?). I would like to order a rebuild if possible.

Most likely it is a vented loop. You can buy replacement valves from many sources. Here are some at Defender:

I have on on my F-30 and I am certain it was the way the factory installed the engine.

Before I tried to buy a replacement (it does not appear to be a standard one I have seen in catalogs) I would try unscrewing the top and cleaning it.
