In the process of installing our new Garhauer vang - a beautiful piece of equipment by the way. It occurs to me that it might be a good idea to compliment it with a topping lift - supposedly not needed with the vang but how about when reefed? Does the boom have to be lifted more than the vang can accomodate?
Also the topping lift could be used to reeve a second halyard for emergency bosuns chair lift to the mast top - note my earlier posts about our main halyard jam up! Anyone refresh me on how many turning blocks there are up at masthead to do this?
Secondly suggestions for leading the vang back to the coach roof for ease of handling from the cockpit appreciated. Thanks
