Soft Shackles on 40/40

Earlier in the season a couple of our padeyes broke in a windy situation and my husband was able to replace them. We have been thinking of installing soft shackles instead of stainless steel to minimize the hard stop of the shackles on the padeyes during heavy weather or when tacking or jibing. Has anyone else done this? Do you feel like it decreases the stress on the blocks, padeyes, boom, etc? I've found a youtube site describing how to make them from dyneema line, but also saw some online. Any comments about your experience, thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
