Holding Tank Vent Filter
Holding Tank Vent Filter
Is there a vent filter on the Freedom 40/40 and if so, where is it and how can it be replaced?
Re: Holding Tank Vent Filter
At least on my 38 there wasn't but I installed a Big Orange filter that made a huge difference.

Re: Holding Tank Vent Filter
There was not one in the boat as built.
I am reading about this, and Practical Sailor along with Peggy Hall (the Headmistress) don't like the vent filters as they can clog and cause collapse of holding tanks when trying to pump out. It looks like the Big Orange has a bypass, but do you need to go down to the bypass every time you pump out?

Re: Holding Tank Vent Filter
I installed a Big Orange vent filter years ago. Works fine and eliminates smell from vent. I replace the carbon every season. It does have a bypass vent incase the carbon filter gets plugged.
