Re: New magnetic compass
Had my compass repaired about 8 years ago due to leaking fluid. The repair included replacement of dome and adding the LED light. Cost was WELL below replacment. Viking was the name of the company and it was in MA.

Re: Freedom 39 transmission
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but this is the transmission in White Wings hull 35. The manual does not give the angle of deflection built into the case that I could see. My engine is also a 4JHE and is installed level. HURTH HBW Boat Reversing Gearbox Units HBW 150V-2R SN. 05-2071 ib ...

Re: Dangers of offset companionways??
I have had a 39 Express for 25 years. Lots of off-shore work from Maine to the Dry Tortugas in all of the weather one is eventually gong to encounter regarless of the best weather planning. I have had WhiteWings starboard rail in the water only once and that was on a clear summer afternoon just outs...

Re: Rigid boom vang for an F38
I have a 39 Express and put Garhauer rigid vangs on both booms about 10 years ago. They will make the collar also based on measurements you provide. They have done a few and will provide instructions on how to take measurements. As I sail singlehanded most of the time the biggest improvement for me ...

Re: Water in the cylinders
You didn't mention putting oil in the cylinders but a little and then rotate to coat the cylinder walls, rings and piston will slow rust and corrosion which can still be a problem even with fresh water.

Re: Start button - I swear I'll fix it this time
You did not mention the type of engine but I had the same issue on a Yanmar. Tracked the problem to not enough amperage to starter when it was hot. The next time it happens jump the battery connection on the starter to the solenoid, if it turns over you have the issue identified. I wired a NAPA mari...

Re: F32 reefing
I have the same holes in my sails on a 39 Express. I run bungee cord through them to act as a retainer to keep the reefing hook from the single line reef system from coming out.

Re: clutch button
Sounds like you had an exciting moment. The engine control sounds like the one I have, there are several threads on the site about these controls, usually about being frozen from corrosion. If the control is a single lever that engages the transmission with forward in one direction and reverse in th...

Re: Freedom 39 Water Tanks
I found some pictures that would post, one from just after starting and one from just before the tank can be removed. Hope you never have to go there though the entire project can be done without cutting anything, it all comes apart with screws.
