Re: FlexiTeek replacement swim platform

I put flexiteek in the cockpit sole and seating on my prior F-33. Was very happy with it and held up well. Only 2 comments are: 1. Its warmer in the sun then a light color (doesn't matter when using cushions on it. 2. The installation can result in some bubbles/unevenness. We had an installer do it ...

Re: Start button - I swear I'll fix it this time

Had this flaky mysterious problem on my F33 with Yanmar. Replaced some wiring and new starter button. No Luck. Problem turned out to be resistance at the connecting blocks of the wiring that runs to the cockpit panel/start button. Even a little corrosion can make it flaky. Solution separate the conn...

Re: bitts for 33 ketch and anchor windlass

I installed a vertical windlass between the mast and sprit on a teak pad and also strengthened the sprit as it was not well made on mine at least. I installed the windlass with the mast out since that was easiest. I used mostly chain rode and then line and there was plenty of room. The cleats on por...

Re: Yanmar Parts

I frequently ordered online. The trick is to find which of the large authorized Yanmar parts supply companies is in your region. These regions are quite large. For instance I was in MA and ordered from a company that I think was in the midwest. They couldn't sell to California as I recall. Here's on...

Re: F 28 -Water tanks draining into bilge

Sounds like you may be talking about the vent lines. These are supposed to loop high up and then come down to the bilge. If you overfill the tanks water will run out otherwise even on a heel they shouldn't if looped high up at deck or cabin top level in a closet. If you seal the vent lines it will p...

Re: self steering vanes on barn door rudder boats?

ON my freedom 33 (sold a few years ago I went through 2 vanes. The second one was a superior arrangement and vane. It was mounted so that the lines from the vane went to blocks on the transom and directly back to the rudder. No lines to the cockpit. Worked more like a vane to tiller then to wheel wh...

Re: traveller onto the carbon masts

My 33 cat ketch had already been converted when I purchased it. Supposedly the conversion was done by Freedom. The track was attach using rivets (I assume Monel). I subsequently attached a radar bracket using rivets as well. Just make sure they are long enough. I don't recall their diameter or lengt...

Re: Varifold- propeller to F35 cat ketch

I had an F-33 and put a variprop feathering prop on and it fit. Bought it because it would fit in tight space. Was very happy with it. Don't see how the varifold would fit assuming your aperture is the same as I had on the US 33 cat ketch.

Re: Boating through Cape Cod Canal-Advice?

When I first did the canal I made 2 mistakes. The first is I was overly conservative about going at slack current. Much better to use the current to speed you along but keep in mind if the wind is against you going into Buzzards Bay you'll get some big chop and maybe standing waves ahead of that. If...

Re: F33 emergency tiller broke!!!

The emergency tiller on my prior F-33 was much more massive then your picture and fit over the top of the rudder.
