Re: New carbon mast?
Peter, thanks for your reply. Good for the record, however I have made the choice already for aluminum again.

Re: New carbon mast?
For record sake the following: Continued my investigations and found that it was not that easy to find somebody who can create such a mast. The issue is that you need a mandrel specifically made and they are rare. The only one who has such a thing available for a freedom 35 is most likely Ted van Du...

Re: Problems with F35 aluminum mast
All, for record sake I think it is good to post how I resolved this. So basically I had three options 1. Going for a new carbon mast. This is by far the most expensive solution. See post why I did not went for this. 2. Buy an aluminum lighting pole and strengthen it with carbon. Experts highly advis...

Re: Introducing myself!
Eric,
what is your mast made off?? Carbon or Aluminum?? If it is the latter I can tell you all about it. Noise would not be a good sign. That's where my trouble started..... See post http://www.freedomyachts.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11737

Re: Spare carbon main mast for F35 around?
Martijn, sorry for the late reply. Seemed to have overlooked your entry. Great, confirms my conclusions. Have however decided to go first for the aluminum option. Saves a lot of money....... If that doesn't work out well, I will most likely go to them.

Re: Problems with F35 aluminum mast
Erik, this is highly interesting! So your mast (including the lower part which is fitted in the deck and the keelstep) is only 0.25 inch (approx 6.5 mm) thick? There is no additional internal or external tube? And - pardon me asking - are you using your F40 in rough environments (open sea, 6+ beaufo...

Re: Problems with F35 aluminum mast
I got a little ahead in this direction as well. It is not that difficult to get an aluminum flagpole/lightning column of about the right size. Then you need to strengthen it. This is also most likely the way they created the original masts (got this somewhere on this forum) This strengthening can be...

Re: Spare carbon main mast for F35 around?
Eric, thanks I did contact Composite Engineering in the US. That's definitely an option, however again a slightly expensive one due to the transportation cost. Hallspar did not react on my inquiries. Apparently they are only in for the one-off market above 60 feet! A good option seems to be Ceilidh ...

Re: Refrigeration unit in a UK F35 Cat Ketch
Peter, I did exactly the same thing last year (installing a condenser unit etc) I have placed it in the room behind the stove. Good place, only setback is the point that you sometimes hear the condenser, for example at night time, when everything is quiet. Thickness of Isolation I did not exactly me...
