I added one on my Freedom 35. It had a very shallow anchor locker so first I opened up the bottom of the locker and fiber glassed the are in the V berth to allow the chain to drop. I then installed the Lofrans windlass on the deck above the locker.

I misspoke earlier. I meant relay, not solenoid.

I had same problem. It turned out to be a bad STOP Relay in the engine compartment.

I had the same problem for a year. I change starter, cables. Finally the STOP solenoid. That was the problem all along.

Preplace the STOP relay. I had same issue.

I have a 40/40. What I do is unscrew three of the 4 screws holding the thru hull shutoff and slightly loosen the 4th. Rotate the valve off the thru hull and take a long screw driver to clear the thru hull. Sounds complicated but really easy.
