Re: Freedom 44 Emergency Tiller and Anchor Chain Locker Drainage

I bungie cord my tiller to the mizzen mast down below. That way it is easily accessible and out of the way. Not sure how a 44 is set up. But down below on my boat the mizzen is in the galley and I bungie anything 6 feet (2x fishing poles and a tiller) And some what skinny.

Re: 2019 October Rendezvous

The Falcon should be back in the water the end of October or early November. We r up for anything anywhere in the Bay as long as the boat is back in the water.

Re: F30 CK Centreboard movement

If it makes u feel better, my Center Board knocks in most sea states when it’s down. It takes a little while to get use to the noise while on passage. But I’ve never seen any damage to the trunk when I’ve had it pulled for a bottom job.

Re: 28 CK...Dumping my wheel for the tiller?

I have the 33 and it also had a stout emergency tiller and I had to use it for about 8 hours off the coast of Carmel CA. The chain Failed in the steering wheel and we deployed the tiller. I think we have similar rudders which are barn doors hanging off the stern. It takes a very strong hand to steer...

Re: Freedom 40/40 Mast Inspection Photos

Not sure about the sheeve, but the rest of it looks cosmetic, I would recommend taking her out on a test sail with 20+ knots of wind and see what happens, I’m willing to bet nothing happens and the stick will go another 40+ years. There are more posts on this site that address mast cracking, but aft...

Re: mast head

As Rock climber with 20+ years of experience, I use the prusik knot, with two pieces of 20’, one inch webbing to go up my mast. Last fall the halyard block broke off my mast head on my F33 CK, so I hand no choice but to climb up the mast with no halyard. Wrap the two pieces of webbing around the mas...
