Re: Repower time - Freedom 32 Yanmar
Yanmar makes the best marine diesel engines. Ask any marine diesel mechanic and they’ll tell you the same thing: they just run. That's a rather sweeping statement. The one I asked recommended Beta for the quality and reliability of the engines the company produces and the excellent after-sales serv...

Re: Silicone around mast boot?
I doubt a replacement will be cheap since I'll have to get rig-rite to make one. No you won't. I used flexible drainage pipe connectors. Details in this thread: https://www.freedomyachts.org/viewtopic.php?p=52016#p52016 Of course, you can only fit it if you pull the mast, or get up the top and wrig...

Re: Need HIN for Freedom 35 built in UK
string I may be looking for would be FR33 (in uk this was a 33 not a 35) 023 ../../85. Wrong way round - the US original was the 33, the UK version was the 35. The difference is merely marketing - the bowplank is about 2 feet long. My boat was sold as a 30, but the moulding is the 28. The fairly cr...

Re: Need HIN for Freedom 35 built in UK
If it is built in the UK you wouldn't expect to find a US style HIN. On my UK built Freedom 30 the identification number is on the top left outside surface of the transom and repeated low down on the inside surface, just above the drainage opening. The writing is small. It's FR28 107 5/11/80 FR28 - ...

Re: double skin/sail
My 30CK is rigged the same. This is how I fold the sails for rigging: Fold sails.jpg That is, roll each side separately to the middle. Stand the roll up in front of the mast, inside the wishbone, and then just unroll each side. When you discover you have the roll upside down or facing the wrong way,...

Re: F38 Mast Leak, Ready to admit defeat
Don't you have a collar attached to the deck? Like this (that's on a 30CK) collar.jpg The connector fits round the collar above the rings that take the blocks. The same place you'd stick tape if you wrapped it. I don't have a picture of that part of my boat - I don't have a moulded plug between coll...

Re: Tohatsu SailPro 6hp Outboard?
I suggest that comparing an F21 with an F28 CK is probably not a good way to go. My F30 CK (the UK-built version of the F28) when fully equipped weighs around 7 tonnes on the crane. I don't know if any F21 weighs more than 1 tonne. 6HP is not going to push an F28 anywhere near hull speed except in a...

Re: 28 CK mast cap questions
Hi Jeff The stub of the mast cap is bonded into the mast. I didn't think to see how far into the mast the stub goes when I had the masts down - but it was pretty obvious that trying to take it out would be a bad idea. There are no conduits - there's no internal rigging for the cables to interfere wi...
