Re: Cutlass (Morse) Bearing Removal - F-33

Sounds like a workable idea - there is an extraction tool available where the new cutlass bearing is pushed in and the old one is pushed out in the same motion - similar principal, only more expensive….. that’s also how I remove thru hulls

Re: Freedom 39

Timely- sailing yesterday trying to match the environment we had with the F39 with my F 35- putting a reef (2nd reef as I don’t run a first reef), line got hung up and the power winch ripped the luff reef block apart and tore the line in half- main got stuck up and had a time trying to get it down :...

Re: Freedom 39

Hi Don - I have a poor video of sailing but nothing on the rigging. This F39 carried two reefing points for main and mizzen, all lines running to the ample cockpit. Single line reefing - not sure whether shuttle blocks were involved or simply “single lines” as I use on GoodWay. In about 30 kts aws w...

Re: 2022 Pac Cup

Yay Kynntana! Big congrats to chime in with Tom and Naty! Wanna hear about how the self steering worked and solar panels! On our double handed return in 2010 our Cape Horn wind vang was useless due to us not balancing the rig! We installed an st 2000 ( I think) to the tiller of the j35 right before ...

Re: Gel coat colour

Do a search on this forum for “deck gel-coat crazing” or similar and there will be numerous posts. Gel coat color matching is a straight forward process- mixing tints until the color is matched and then add hardener….. what did the survey say about how deep the crazing went? Jason - if cracks are su...

Re: 2022 Pac Cup update

Having not heard more and loosing kynntana’s “track” I contacted the pac cup commodore (especially after reading about poor weather, several boats returning to Honolulu, and an Express 37 captain who cut his ankle, got infected, and had to be picked up by a re-routed Taiwanese freighter and had a Co...
