Re: Shaft Seal Squeak F30
The squeal starts as soon as it is in gear. No time to heat up.

Shaft Seal Squeak F30
IMG_0020.JPG My shaft seal has been squeaking this last season at low RPM. I had a very small water ingress when the season started (a little drip) but otherwise no issues. When you push on the shaft from outside it does not move up down/side to side at all. Other than the squeaking at low RPM it h...

Re: Eye and hook for companionway stairs on a F-30
Thank you guys, some great ideas here. I'm going to order a sea dog latch and see how robust it looks. Love having options!

Eye and hook for companionway stairs on a F-30
On my F-30 I have a hook and eye that holds the companionway stairs to the bulkhead. The hooks broke I replaced them from a marine hardware site. The new hooks don't bend in at the end of the hook, the result being that with vibration from people using the stairs the hooks occasionally come undone, ...

Re: Stack Pack
I'm guessing Boom kicker is the way to go. My Stack Pack also has lazy jacks, they just don't support the boom the way the stock ones do. I do have problems getting the sail up in fluky weather do to the roach getting caught on the wrong sides of the lazy jacks but I guess there are some problems wi...

Re: Stack Pack
This is about replacing my lazy jacks with a stack pack and no longer having the boom supported. OK so 10 months later, I have added a way to ease the topping lift at the mast to allow for the roach of the sail to pass from side to side through the topping lift line. Did not test of course until I w...

Camber Spar rigging
I just rigged my F30 for the season. I noticed there is a grommet on the luff of jib at the camber-spar pocket. Does the bolt that holds the wheel on the camber spar go through this grommet?

Re: Stack Pack
Have a Doyle Sails Cradle cover. The only issues I had was supporting the boom. Still have not really resolved it. It is a little hard to get the sail up with the lazy jacks (have to hold the boat directly into the wind or the battens can get caught on them) but I would guess that is true of any laz...

Re: Stack Pack
Camino: My topping lift is a Dyneema line that ties on to the end of the boom. How do you have it rigged to ease the line?
John; love the idea of a boom kicker but will have to look into the expense. Would love the cheaper solution right now
