F39 Swivel Chairs and small console - FREE

I’m going to be building a settee in my F39 Express where the swivel chairs and center console/table are situated. I have the chairs and console in storage in Glen Cove, NY. They are in good condition, so wanted to offer them up free of charge rather than send them to the dumpster. All you need to d...

Re: Replace Exhaust Elbow? - Freedom 30

FYI - the emergency tiller is just a welded “L” of thick aluminum tube (like 3” I think). So don’t look for anything fancy.

Re: Replace Exhaust Elbow? - Freedom 30

Congrats! Just sold my F30 a few years ago. There are two options to access the lazarette/inside transom area depending on where you’re trying to go. One is through the cockpit locker, if you’re trying to get to the port side of the rudder shaft. On the starboard side (where the shore power connecti...

Freedom 39 manual

Adding a scan of my Freedom 39 manual. Seems to combine F39PH and F39E info. Enjoy.

Re: Jib without the camberspar

Hi Mike - The 35.54 and 42.42 are the arc lengths of the two sections. So, yes, the actual length of pipe. The R80.80 and R154.47 are the radii of the two curves. So, the foreword section is a 35.54” arc length of a circle with a 80.8” radius. This was all the info needed for the shop to bend one. M...

Re: Jib without the camberspar

I measured the curve from my camberspar when it was off the F30 I previously owned, and had the attached made by a machinist shop. I had it made from Sch 80 aluminum pipe with the theory to increase strength, but that was a mistake because it ended up too heavy. I would stick with Sch 40 if I did it...

Re: Freedom sail emblem / insignia

I uploaded vector file versions of the logo some time ago here: viewtopic.php?p=53397#p53397.

You don’t need to license using the star logo design. It was commissioned for the 1976 bicentennial by the US government and is public domain.

Re: F39 rudder top bearing

You can see the bronze collar on the rudder shaft in this picture (and the extremely rusted out base plate under the binnacle). It’s loose, pivoting around the thru-bolt that’s the connection point for the emergency tiller. So I’m thinking it’s just for reinforcement, and so the bolt isn’t crushing ...

Re: F39 rudder top bearing

Thank you for the quick reply! As I was poking around today I saw there’s a bronze cylinder under where the packing material goes that doesn’t seem to be load bearing at all. Do you know if this is just to provide a surface for the packing material to bottom out against? Or does it serve some other ...

F39 rudder top bearing

Does the Freedom 39 Express have a top rudder bearing near the cockpit floor? And what is it supposed to look like? I removed the emergency steering cover plate on my new to me F39 and found an oddly shaped rubber hose section, which doesn’t quite fit around the shaft. Under that, around the shaft i...
