28 CK in the SF Bay Area
Hi All. The time has come to part with my 1979 28 CK. She has wishbones, nice sails, and I’ve replaced all the plastic ports with NewFound Metals bronze. The interior is looking good, but she’s a project. P/O removed the inboard. She’s a Panama Canal and Hawai’i vet. I had big plans, but I just don’...

Re: Climbing the masts on a 28 C
Ah-good idea with the tether. I like the web ladder idea, too.
My goal is to install the Marinebeam tricolor and a vhf antenna on the main mast, and an AIS antenna and wind instrument on the mizzen.

Re: Climbing the masts on a 28 CK?
David- Funny you mention the prussik around the mast. I was thinking about that as well. Yes-my halyards are external. I’ll replace them before I go up, but I’ll have to rely on the blocks somewhat. They’re Harkens, and from the drone shots I got they look to be okay. Regardless, with two blocks and...

Re: Climbing the masts on a 28 CK?
Perfect. That's great info. Now I just have to worry about the blocks/attachment at the masthead!

Climbing the masts on a 28 CK?
All, Ran into a guy who wants to sell me a mast climber system. Top Climber, I think. My question is, I’m a big guy-6’5” and around 275#. Am I going to have any issues related to weight going to the tops of the mizzenmast and main? Not worried about height or getting up/down the mast-just don’t want...

Tohatsu SailPro 6hp Outboard?
My '79 28CK came without a diesel. It came from the factory with one, but the PO got rid of it in the 80's. Not at all interested in trying to put one back in. He replaced it with an outboard, and I received the boat with an electric start, 9.9hp Yamaha 4 stroke. The thing weighs an absolute ton, an...

Re: Eyebrow trim in the Bay Area?
I think I may be right there with you. Got the new, beautiful handrails installed, and the eyebrow just looks like clutter. The previous owner of my boat was a huge fan of silicone. I found that CRC Brake Cleaner spray from Harbor freight makes quick work of it. Need to immediately follow it with a ...

28 CK mast cap questions
Hello, all. Haven’t been to the top of my masts yet, but my son took some drone shots for me. I have a couple questions... 1. How are the caps held in? I don’t see any obvious fasteners. 2. Are there conduits of some kind inside the masts? What happens to the wires when they go through those opening...
