Thanks Josh! Yes, that existing rubber is very hard. Not puling the mast I hope so will look for a boot that can wrap around and seal well along the "seam."

I looked at Freedom 38 today that I am interested in purchasing. Is this mast base acceptable or does it need work to be watertight?

I would add a photo but it keeps rejecting even the smallest ones...

Does anyone have the name of a surveyor who is in Southern California who is qualified to inspect carbon fiber masts?

I am intrigued!
