Re: Mast shifting at the bottom

Not sure about the designer's intent. I never took pics when the masts were removed. Regarding the mast work, I am about 190 lbs. I've been up both masts multiple times for different reasons. I use a top climber, usually with a safety line wrapped around the mast. The top climber line is tied to a s...

Re: Mast shifting at the bottom

Hello Wolle, I am the owner of Ketch 22, F39 hull number 22. I bought her in 1997 near Houston. Shortly after, I sailed to Ft Myers Beach FL through short, choppy seas for hours on end. It was nauseating, but I didn't have the problem you described. Unknown to me the PO had put epoxy inside the mizz...

Re: Yanmar 3gm30f water pump

YOYO for removing it, but I have a good trick to re-install. First, lube up the spine and the blades of the impeller. Get yourself a rightsized hose clamp and collapse the impeller blades with it until they are small enough to fit in the pump housing with little or no friction getting them in. The c...

Re: F35 Perrick. Anyone Add a Backup Bilge Pump?

Hello Mark, Ketch 22 has two electric and two manual bilge pumps. One of the electric pumps uses a" float switch", the second is a water witch style. Each pump has its own thru hull, one at the stern and one on the starboard side. The wiring is separate as well. Each pump has its own breaker. Ketch ...

Re: Anchor rode attachment point

I use two nylon lines that form a V. The apex of the V has a large chain cleat that grabs the chain. The V assembly lowers the attachment of "boat to chain" to near the water line. While true that the stress of the anchor line is at deck level, the actual attachment level of the chain is closer to w...

Re: Anchor rode attachment point

My 200 feet of chain is tied to the mast with a short piece of nylon anchor rode. I've never had a problem and like the freedom of being able to cut the chain loose in an emergency. I also am mindful of how much chain I release so that I don't allow the rode to rub on my mast under stress. I also us...

Re: Bay Area meet up

Thanks for arranging all this Gamayun.

Ketch 22 is 39' by 12.5'.

She'll need about 5.5' of depth.

Re: Bay Area meet up

Will there be any guest slips for 'less than overnight' stays?

I'd like to bring Ketch 22, but I'll have to leave on the 10th around 4. Maybe there will be an early happy hour? Or something like that?
