Re: Original Harstick/F30 aft reef lines

I do exactly as James does on my 35. Conventional main, not loose footed. Seems to work.

Re: Freedom engine shut off length

Steve, it’s a Yanmar part. Apparently it comes in three sizes. You can order it from these folks on the web.

Re: Freedom engine shut off length

‘Steven, I have done this job on two yanmars now. I believe the cable comes in two sizes, and you need the longer one on the 35. While I can’t remember the length, I say this because the prior owner left me the short version which was not long enough :-)

Hope that helps.

Re: F35 (Pedrick) V birth tank

I would guess it is a water tank added by a prior owner.
I added a flexible water tank under the v berth on a prior boat. No need for a separate deck fill.
Now you've got me thinking about another project!

Re: SYNTRON SHAFT SEAL MAINTENANCE

My yard was able to install a PSS shaft seal on my 35. I've done the job on another boat, but it looked like a very tight fit so I let them do it. They said it took longer than expected, and I can believe it.

Re: Freedom 40/40 boom vang adjustment (?)

Bruce, I'm late to the party but for what it is worth.... I have a 35 with a rigid vang. I use the main halyard as a topping lift when the sail is not raised. The end of the boom can be tied off to a rail to reduce swinging if motoring without the sail up. But I find that with the vang slacked the b...

Re: worn gooseneck bracket F35P '97

Steve, There is a plate on the forward side of my mast opposite the goose neck. Some of the fasteners holding the neck to the mast were loosening, and I had the yard repair it. I think they got access by removing the plate. I'll try to post a picture. I don't have any wear like you describe. I have ...

Re: Repower time - Freedom 32 Yanmar

Hi Scott, Sorry to hear about your 3GMF, and surprised you are having trouble finding parts. I guess I've been lucky so far, I've only needed maintenance items, nothing major. Several folks who have re-powered in my area have gone with Beta Marine, and they seem happy. Might be worth looking into. G...
