Re: Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

It looks like there is not going to be a "formal" (if there is such a thing) get together. Our plans are in flux and screwy, but we are happy to try to be at Dutch Harbor on Saturday or Sunday nights. If people can email me at crwindy@comcast.net so we will know whether to try to stop there. For tho...

Re: Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

Our plans have been in flux due to work on the boat and upcoming surgery. May still be able to stop at Dutch harbor Saturday or Sunday night, anyone planning on being there. We can bring "Cards Against Humanity" to ensure a good time.

Re: Freedom 40/40 Main Sheet Blocks on Boom

The earlier 40/40's had some undersized hardware (guess how I know-same problem). I was able to purchase a used boom from Paul Dennis that had been on consignment from someone who changed to roller furling boom. This boom was from a later model and fittings were upsized. No problems since then. Give...

Re: Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

There is no need for a mooring at Dutch Harbor. It is one of the few places where there is always room.

Re: Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

Let's not let this fizzle out.
Can we stir up some interest?
I am going to need to leave for my vacation trip early, so I can really only do this over 4th of July weekend.
While things are more crowded that weekend, there is always room at Dutch Harbor.

Re: First race with Dolcetto

With regard to the camberspar hitting the mast, you probably need more headstay tension. Can you describe the main problem more? You might need a cunningham. Does it set up tight and then loosen? Perhaps you are getting slip in the main halyard stopper. It sounds like your halyard is fine in terms o...

Re: Holding Tank Vent Filter

There was not one in the boat as built. I am reading about this, and Practical Sailor along with Peggy Hall (the Headmistress) don't like the vent filters as they can clog and cause collapse of holding tanks when trying to pump out. It looks like the Big Orange has a bypass, but do you need to go do...

Re: Messing about in the bilge...

I have used a steam pressure cleaner on a really grimy, filthy, greasy bilge with great results. Without the steam cleaner I would have needed to use enough chemicals to need to call in the EPA. It was great and left everything clean and smelling good without chemicals. Does a great job on mold as w...

Holding Tank Vent Filter

Is there a vent filter on the Freedom 40/40 and if so, where is it and how can it be replaced?
