Re: In-Boom Furling Systems
Hello Full Monty, We have a Freedom 45 and are currently researching in boom furlers. We really liked the Schaffer system, but are worried about mounting it to the carbon fiber mast and the stress on the gooseneck. We sailed 14,000 miles after leaving Long Beach, Ca. in the last year and a half, are...

Re: F45 Sail Main Sail Handling
My Freedom 42, (it's a 45 without the sugar scoop transom) has a Strong track system with bat cars. The main sail drops beautifully onto the boom using lazy jacks, it takes about 2 seconds.
Not one problem in the seven years I've had the boat.

Re: f 45 refrigeration replacement
Hello Lew, I replaced the atrocious system on my boat, a Freedom 42, same as 45 w/o sugar scoop. I don't know if it was the original, but was a power hungry, noisy monstrosity. I put in an air cooled, "cool blue" from Technautics. It works fine with original boxes. It's a holding plate unit in the f...

Re: Mast mounting radar
My boat came with a small radome mounted atop a stern mounted pole.
I chopped the pad off of the top and added an extension, leveling unit and a cross arm for the antennas.
Plus it gave me mini spreaders to hoist flags.

Re: Freedom 40 or 44's on the West Coast?
Ahoy Erik, I have a F42CC (it's the only one made, hull #1 of the 45 series) it's a 45 without the sugar scoop. Great boat, I'm very happy with it, I'm a live aboard in So-Cal, Long Beach Shoreline Marina. I'm not sure of any other Freedoms, there was a 40-40 here for a while, but I haven't seen it ...
