I would not recommend using the gun mount without a liner. You will scratch up your pole if you do. My gun mount has three small holes on each side and instead of replacing the liner which covers the entire ID of the tube I installed three plastic buttons on each side. I replaced my cutlass bearing last year and came up with an easy way to do it, provided the prop shaft is removed. I rented (for free) a ball joint press from PepBoys. Having a '82 you have two options. To remove your diesel tank you can either remove the engine or disassemble one of the quarter berths and slide it out sideways.
