Just came across this clip in YouTube. This is pretty much exactly what I'd like to have.

flexible roller furler on a mizzen staysail - F28 CK
Hi all I've got a (substantial) mizzen staysail that came with the wardrobe when I bought my boat; a F28 CK with wishbone booms. I've only deployed it a couple of times. Maybe I do not know how to perform the maneuver properly, but TBH, in the event of having to gybe, it seems so cumbersome as to be...

Re: Furler for self tacking jib
Hi Uroe
I'm curious if you installed the ruler, and what's your experience of it. Thinking of doing the same thing with a CDI flexible system.
Thanks for your input.

Re: self steering vanes on barn door rudder boats?
Hi AlanK, Cataway. Many thanks or your input, particularly pics! After a protracted assessment, I've decided to go with the Hebridean. This is a DIY job, mostly wood. I had good reviews of performance once tuned correctly; it's light, very easy to fix if it breaks, and requires a modest bracket on t...

Re: self steering vanes on barn door rudder boats?
Hi Rafael, I had a Fairways freedom 35 with a Sailomat windvane mounted on a bracket about 3 feet from the transom on the centreline. This was an independent unit which had its own pendulum oar and separate steering oar and was well clear of the mizzen wishbone boom and barn door rudder.A continuous...

Re: self steering vanes on barn door rudder boats?
Hi everyone I know I'm reviving an old thread, but... I am in the process of choosing a self steering system for my boat. I have a Freedom 30 cat ketch (Hoyt) with wheel steering. This means: mizzen boom overhanging the transom by over a foot, and a large barn door rudder hanging from the transom. I...

Re: Cruising medicine chest on board
When I was doing a lot of long trips I picked up an emergency dental kit somewhere to add to the medical chest. Best thing I ever bought. Nothing worse than toothache or a lost filling weeks from shore. Not to mention trying to find a dentist in some ports. Good thread. Hi Northerncole Indeed! it i...

Re: solar panel system setup - request for advise
Relating to the location of the controller, you typically want it as close to the batteries as possible especially if your panel voltage is high. My panels output at 48V thus the wire size required to minimize voltage drop at 48V is much lower than at 12V. So big $ savings in keeping the longer wir...
