Re: mast wedge help

Our mast comes out every few years. Make sure that you provide registration marks on the mast and the ring. I've poured Spartite 2x times. I had no problems keeping the mast upright with wedges. It sets up pretty quickly. Making a leakproof dam is a challenge! For the person who wants this to stop t...

Re: Relocating the Waterline

First, I would try to offload some of the "stuff" (I'm using a nice word) that has accumulated on your boat. You might be amazed at how much stuff you have on board that you don't use or need to carry. After doing that, I would go around the boat and place pieces of tape at 2" above the water. Then ...

Re: Fuel Water Separator F32

If there's one thing you should have on your Racor, it's a vacuum gauge. That will show you if there's a problem way before it becomes one. As nice as a dual filter setup is, I've never had a need to swap fuel filters underway, and BlueJacket's motor has 5500+ hours on it.

Re: dismasted freedom 39 ph

I'm very glad that you decided to of public with this, as all of us carbon-fiber mast owners need to try to understand what happened. There's absolutely no reason to hide this. To me, it's amazing to see the actual failure. It certainly looks a lot different close-up than what I would have imagined ...

Re: dismasted freedom 39 ph

I'm also curious as to why you've had the mast "inspected prior to every departure"? Was there something that you were concerned about? What experience did the person have with carbon fiber masts that was doing the inspections? Given that this occurred in light conditions, just after departure, I wo...

Re: dismasted freedom 39 ph

This is the area I was asking about. There certainly does seem to be something other than halyard slap going on. Not that it really matters, as that isn't where it broke, but I'm just curious. And I'm just amazed at how clean the break is.

Re: dismasted freedom 39 ph

I deleted the duplicate post in "Random Chatter" to keep all conversations related to this in a single post. First off, so sorry that this happened, but I'm glad that no one was hurt. Did you continue to Hawaii or return to MX? Next, I see what appears to be another crack higher up on the mast, and ...

Re: New Account Requests

I can't do it, but if you look at the VERY bottom of the digest which gets mailed to you, you'll see a line that reads:

You can change or delete your subscription from the forum’s User Control Panel

And the "User Control Panel" is a link. Just follow that and remove yourself.

Re: Camber spar

Personally, I've found that tying a lanyard on to it through the provided hole works fine.
