Reefing : with wishbone booms and mast track
Show me what you have! I love pictures. your set up and pictures in action if you have any. With the wishbones and tracks, I want to make sure I don't stress the track when reefed. Single line? sail blocks? sail ties? Tack or and clew straps around mast/boom? This past week was our first sail in con...

waves and wishbone noise
Peace. From Clave', formerly FreeForm, 1981 hamble uk built F28(30) Centerboard Cat Ketch. On a light day with little wind and ship and boat generated swell we experienced the booms flying around and striking the mast. Any tricks you all do to quiet the little beast? Numbknots had rigged preventers ...

Re: Fairways Marine built freedoms. history, numbers, variat
I corrected my initial posting of Fairey which built ply as you noted. The Freedoms were built by Fairways. They built trawlers.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Fairways Marine built freedoms. history, numbers, variations
As the owner of a Fairways Marine 1981 Freedom 28 CK CB, I am curious as to the hisory of the builder at time of construction, how many were built and survive, and if any differences that have or may have created special areas of concern. Patrick indicated that one of those periods was occuring at t...

Re: Spinnaker for F28ck
We are enjoying our 1981 Freedom CK CB WB, Clave, previously owned by Numbknots. Playing with the mizzen, we have just used it on beam reach so far, so just used the deckhouse fitting and the rear toe rail as tack and clew to date. Sail draws well. Numbknots asked size of maximum staysail initially....

if you are thinking of square top sails...
Clave' , our "new" Freedom 28 CB CK WB has squaretops. Several photos of Clave' are scattered about the site. The top batten acts like a gaff. But you cant dip it, so when need to pull it when furling as it sticks up like a shark fin or you have roll up the batten. Check out the doyle anomoly soluti...

Re: Cat ketch sails: two-ply, single-ply, or sleeved
Patrick, I am the owner of Clave', formerly Freeform. Numknots the most recent prior owner had upgraded to tracks and slides and kept the wishbone booms. Going past ninety with the current system will stress the sail track screws/rivits. Farther load the slides and battens at mast. Your technique wi...
