Re: Grounding Wire Question

I think it more likely the corrosion and zinc depletion are both symptoms of the same problem. Are you attached to shore power? I would suggest there is some inter-boat cell being created.

Sorry can't help with the wire.

Re: F21/F25 - Adding a 'forestay' padeye to the deck

Even with my tiny self-tacking blade jib, I only get bad weather helm when I should be reefed but it does give me half a knot with a reasonable wind and a few extra degrees into the wind. I think your estimate is good, conservative even. My dyneema stay will let go at 1500Kg and I do not see that ha...

Re: F21/F25 - Adding a 'forestay' padeye to the deck

Hi Ian, I think it is a good idea to add a forestay to your F21. I added one to Rockin over the winter and tested it out a couple of weeks ago. I was able to raise and lower the jib easily and keep it under control so as to swap between the jib and spinnaker without leaving the cockpit. I used 4mm d...

Re: Hard rubber mast stand

Hi Kristoffer here are the pictures. The mast has a stainless steel bracket with a half hole, which gets bolted down to the captive bolt embedded in the keel. The mast fits snugly over the top hat. The internal diameter of the CF mast is 125.8mm and this is the standard Tillotson Pearson mast. I hop...

Re: Hard rubber mast stand

I'll take some pictures tomorrow. Yes some European F21s did have aluminium masts but I didn't hear about any rubber shoes. Anyway, they were not all the same, some being tapered some not. I'm not sure what was the reason. Mine is a UK boat and has a CF mast. Other UK boats have Al masts... maybe th...

Re: Hard rubber mast stand

That is a big difference! I suspect that is not the original mast and the rubber was used to retrofit it. There are threads on this forum describing methods make the fit better e.g. building up the "top hat" with epoxy, as that is what folks tend to call it here. However usually that is for mms of p...

Re: Hard rubber mast stand

Hi Kristoffer, OK understood, the drawing is good enough. For your information, on my Freedom 21, the mast goes directly over the pillar on the keel. There is no rubber between the inside of the mast and the fibreglass of the keel pillar. Maybe on your father's boat this was added to shim the joint ...

Re: Hard rubber mast stand

In particular, this is the collar/wedge you want: "Urethane Mast Collar Wedge for 5 3/8" OD Round Mast: PP F25572MC: Special molded Urethane Mast Collar/Wedge for 5 3/8" OD Round Mast. Round Mast Collar is 6 5/8" OD x 5 3/8" ID x 2 3/8" high and fits between the Mast and the Deck. One piece molded c...

Re: Polyethelyne Water Tank Inspection Port and Tank Vent Changes

I like overkill nice job.Not sure what access you have to your bilge problem but, if you no longer have a leak problem, perhaps you can get a tube into the bilge and pump out the water and finish off with a desiccant.

Re: New (to me) 1982 Freedom 39 PH owner

Just seen your post. The forum seems a bit quiet these days but let me offer a welcome. Despite the problems, that is one nice looking boat you have there, I'd sell my grandma for one of those, in any condition. Don't worry at 74 tomorrow, I have no grannies left to sell 😩. Anyway, I wish you all th...
