Re: Square top main questions
I have had square top sails for four years. The look is distinctive. We pull the top battens when we drop the sails. The shark fin if we dont leaves unwanted sail area. The square top as cut decreases twist and encoueages unwanted gybes. Doyle advised us that a full roach main will give us equal per...

Careening for maintainance or mooring in tidal regions
Any freedom owners give it a try? My Freedom 28 cat ketch doesn't draw much and is fairly wide. I have seen a photo of a Freedom 33? in England with a side strut dried out. Some one has done it. I vave been watching videos of a bilge keeled boat sailor in England dry out in some great little harbors...

Re: New 28CK User

This year a new electric panel. We mostly day sail the Florida west coast. Post pictures of your boat when ...

Re: how fast is the freedom 28 / 30 (u.k.–version)?
We went to Bermuda for the Americas Cup Last year. Fast sailboats. J Boats or AC foiling . Fast sailing!!! We raced our Freedom 30 CK built in England once. ( It shrunk to a Feedom 28 CK when it sailed the Atlantic to the Carribean and to the US (Some marinas call it 32 ft because of outboard rudder...

Re: Repowering. My Freedom 28(30in UK) CK
Thanks for the replies. I went best cost option, yanmar. The boat easily to / above hull speed with old engine so I went wth 2ym15. Considered electric but we still haven't retired and have timelines. Also electric plus batteries were more money, more weight more space and not enough run time for ou...

Repowering. My Freedom 28(30in UK) CK
My transmission would only go in reverse on my volvo md7a ms reverse gear Freedom 28 Cat Ketch. If you ever tried to back a stubby full keeled boat with an extra mast in the bow, you know having reverse only hasn't been a useful modification. The volvo mechanics did their breakdown and produced a li...

Re: Freedom 40 cat ketch: Aluminum mast taper fairing
Thanks, Carl.
It is interesting to see the longevity of these mast with the number of lifetime cycles of tip whip theye have been through both loaded and unloaded. The Bondo makes sense. Why add the sleeve when it appears cracing extends through that when used?

Re: Freedom 40 cat ketch: Aluminum mast taper fairing
Thanks erik,
Steve was curious about what material was used as the original fairing compound really is in incredible shape for 40 years old.
