Re: New canvas coming together

Very nice! Must be the season.

I just completed my main and jib covers a week ago. Helm, winches, companionway and dodger still to be done.

Re: Simplifying camberspar rigging

At risk of beating this topic to death. I received my locking fast pin from Amazon. It came with a 5 inch retaining wire, see photo. So I used the retaining wire clip to act as the additional washer and eliminated the need for the additional washer noted in my last post. I am going to see how that w...

Re: Spinnaker Rig Freedom 30

Here is a superb write up by Rick Simmonds re gunmount rigging and handling, includes photos. https://www.freedomyachts.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8551 I was same as you, bought a rig from a fellow with an F32. I am in an F30 but dimensions are close between the two. Learned all about it from Rick's w...

Re: Freedom Logo

I have received the Freedom stickers. A caveat. The font is not the same as the original. Close but not exact. All other elements are per original. If you need a precise duplicate of original font these are not for you. See attached photo. I purchased 25. I need two for my boat. Anyone wants a set, ...

Re: Jib without the camberspar

Thanks very much Stephen. Appreciate the info. A long time ago you saw a photo of my boat and mentioned you thought the stowed jib was awfully low to the deck. I sort of ignored your comment thinking this was more the nature of the photo than the jib, but surprise surprise, when I figured out how th...

Re: Jib without the camberspar

I measured the curve from my camberspar when it was off the F30 I previously owned, and had the attached made by a machinist shop. I had it made from Sch 80 aluminum pipe with the theory to increase strength, but that was a mistake because it ended up too heavy. I would stick with Sch 40 if I did i...

Re: Freedom Logo

Should be receiving proofs shortly. After that I will execute the order. Probably two weeks away from stickers in hand at my place.

Re: f30 shaft seal

Yes, the boats changed quite a bit as they came up with new/different fittings, etc. I look at some pics of later hulls and often think "why didn't I get that cool thing". They did not seem to make much progress on opening up space for shaft seals though. Another two inches would make a big differen...

Re: Simplifying camberspar rigging

I apologize. You are correct. I was so excited about my new method I forgot about the fender washer needed at the grommet. The locking pin handle does the trick on one side but you do need to retain a fender washer for the other side. This washer is pressed home after the pin is inserted through the...

Re: Jib without the camberspar

Bill, One thing you could do for me if you happen to have the spar off the boat. As mentioned, I have bent my camberspar...several times...I would really like to get a sense for the original "chord" of the spar and its shape. I have contacted Paul Dennis at Warren Isle BW and he indicates he built o...
