Re: were do the battery's go on a F25?
I have two 12v batteries, "car-sized" (whatever group number that is). One is in the same location Tricia mentions, while the other is just forward of this, in the next compartment, which also has the water tank. There is a hole in the bulkhead separating the two compartments for connecting the batt...

Re: Self tacking jib on the sloop rig.
Do you have a staysail on your F21, and if so, what if any is the overlap, and how is it rigged?

Re: Self tacking jib on the sloop rig.
I think the way I sail my boat with the gunmount chute is not that different from how a code zero works, in that, so long as the breeze isn't too heavy, I can carry the chute to a pretty good degree upwind, probably at least as high as 60 deg. I can offset the centering of the pole in the gunmount t...

Re: who would be interested in a light, well designed F25 table?
When I was shopping for a Freedom 25, I was very interested in trying to find one with the table. What I find now that I have one is that we primarily use our boat for day sailing, and I think a table would get in the way more often than it would prove useful.

Re: Self tacking jib on the sloop rig.
It seems like what you may be wondering about is not the performance of self-tending vs. roller-furling headsails per se, but rather the performance of overlapping vs. non-overlapping headsails. There are a lot of posts on this topic scattered around the board. Try searching for "staysail" and you w...

Re: New owner of a 25
Hi, Somewhere on this forum is a guide to hull numbers. In case you haven't found it, here is what I think it says about your boat: TSP: Tillotson-Pearson (builder) 25: Model number (Freedom 25) 077: Hull number M82: Model year (1982) J: Month of manufacture The list I have for the month of manufact...

Re: freedom 25 rigging question
Regarding both alternatives for mast attachments and boom kickers, check out this thread from last winter:

You can also find it by searching on "boomkicker" or "F25 boom support."

Re: Staysail Furler
You've anticipated my next question, which was going to be "have you thought about adding another halyard, and if so, how?" What did you use for a mast hound for the new halyard? I've seen a Ronstan part, but I don't think it would fit my F25 round mast. I can't remember if the F21 has the same carb...

Staysail Furler
About a month ago "Teke's Pride" posted that he had just got the Harken small boat staysail furler. Has anyone else tried something like this? And how has it worked out for you on "Teke's Pride?" (I have avoided the staysail since I didn't want to have to fool with it, but this idea has me thinking ...

Re: looking at F25 what should I look for at inspection?
Dear Yarrow, I think the first thing to decide is whether you care about the two biggest options: round- vs. wing-mast, and inboard vs. outboard. If you haven't already found the F25 manuals on this forum, download them and study them. Many of these boats will have a staysail in addition to the base...
