Messing about in the bilge...

"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats" I am learning more and more to live by this phrase... Spent the afternoon cleaning the bilge today. First mate was extremely helpful in handling the manual pump as I clean...

Re: cockpit contrl panel

It's really going to depend on what electronics you have in there. Most systems have decent schematics published, which is what I've used for systems that came with my Freedom. If you can ID what you have and send pics, can probably point you in the right direction.

Give this post a look over, this is where I found what I needed to learn how to properly rig mine.

Re: First Sail

Haven't had to deal with this myself, but I'd think you'd want to remove as little material as possible. Maybe drill out the Rivet and go to next nearest size larger, or tap and screw? From my reading since joining the Freedom family, it sounds like tapping and using SS screws is preferred method of...

Re: speed temp transducer

Also interested in commentary here. My speed works intermittently, but my experience has been that it needs to be pulled and cleaned weekly to keep it functioning due to algae growth. Also typically reads 1-2kts lower than GPS, even if sailing against currents when I'd expect it to read higher.

Re: Antares

Welcome to the family! There are several Freedoms around Narragansett bay, including 40/40 Rejoice, In Warren (board name Craig). We sail our F32 Hoyt, TY, out of Warwick Cove. Keep an eye on the boards here as things get going this sailing season. We've started throwing ideas out for a get together...

Narragansett Bay Get Together 2016

Well folks, it's that time of year again. Cleaning, repairing, buffing. I'm hoping for an early May return to the water this year and that's got me thinking about another get together this summer. Last year's was pretty casual, but it was great to have a bunch of Freedoms together in one place, and ...

Americas Cup Series - NYC - May 6-8

Anyone else planning to be in NYC for the Louis Vuitton Americas Cup series in a few weeks? My wife and I will be there, staying right in Battery Park City where we will have rooftop access, which hopefully will give a view of the majority of the race area. I was able to get to Newport back in 2012 ...

Re: Fist time sailing a Freedom

Regarding first time sailing a Freedom, get ready to wonder why the hell you ever ground a winch before besides to raise a sail. Still remember my first sail on a 1990 F35 (Hull #1). I bought my Freedom 32 months later...
