Re: F21 third (staysail) halyard
Hi Ian, My F21 has two halliards one for spin and one for jib. My jib however does not furl, I hank it onto the downhaul of the halliard. The jib is too small to want to furl anyway. You don’t say how you hoist the jib now but from your first comment assume you hoist it on the spinnaker halliard.. t...

Re: Freedom 21 spinnaker sock/tube
Hi Ian, there is a cord at the tail end that attaches to the base of one of the stanchions. The retrieval line exits here and is tied to the end of the halliard to make them continuous.

Re: Freedom 21 spinnaker sock/tube
Hi F32Circle, I think you can probably scale up the diagram uploaded by Wilf Bishop. Basically the mouth dimensions should match the opening in the pulpit as it ties just underneath that, the rest is just a tapered tube with the fat end blocked and a hole in the top that matches the pulpit. If you l...

Re: Freedom 21 spinnaker sock/tube
Hi Ian, the F21 is a great little boat. I’m sure you will enjoy it. My spinnaker sock is made from a lightweight mesh material using strengthening tape along its length. I can take some pics when I am next at the boat. It attaches to the pullpit using a number of lengths of cord. If I remember 4 cor...

Re: Profile to F21 lifting rudder
Just a follow up, we took Rockin from Shropshire to Milford Haven last week and launched her. As it was such a nice couple of days we took an afternoon sail up to Dale and back to try out the improvements made over the winter. The rudder behaved really well and even when well powered up had only min...

Re: Electric motor inboard
I agree on the choice of batteries. I use lifepo4 batteries both on my F21 for house, which double up to run a small electric backup outboard. Also I use them for a backup electric supply for my house heating system, i.e. logburner and pumps via an inverter. They are expensive but have a much longer...

Re: Tapered aluminum light/flag pole
Hi I notice only one of the ads mentioned aluminium grade and then only generally, i.e. 6000. Structual aluminium, the most common being 6082, has the greatest strength, however I am not sure how these poles are manufactured and the compatibility of the stronger alloys in the orocess. I do know that...

Re: Gun mount freedom 33
I don’t know if the pdf below has been posted before, it is a file on how to sail a freedom 21. Mostly it describes using the gunmount spinnaker. I’m sure the difference is just in scale between f21 and f33. I can explain the standing rigging if you need it: 2 lines run from pole ends to the mount, ...

Re: Repairing a broken mast on an F30
A good job SVBagatelle, I'm sure the mast is now strongest at the repair site. I have done similar repairs, albeit on a much smaller scale to model glider fuselages, where the spar/boom has broken on impromptu landings, in one case on a tapered boom. In that repair I had to make a tube of the maximu...

Re: Lake of the Ozarks?
See this for some discussion. looks to me its more of a power boat area than sailing.
