Numbknots, do you have fixed keel model? PO told me that he met Garry Hoyt once, they discussed the boat and Hoyt told him that he has one of the earlier “fast boats”. To be frank, GPS tracks impressed me too. I did a few test runs after I bought the boat, fixed it and cleaned a bottom. I did test runs in different days and conditions, trying to exclude tide interference. The boat is very deceptive, she doesn’t feel like going upwind well – too quiet, very little ...

Here is GPS track of my Freedom 28 Cat Ketch, centerboard model, single ply sails, “conventional” boom and high roach sails with full battens. Boat is striped, no extra weight at all, flat waters. Mast weight

Does anybody know how heavy our masts? It doesn't matter what model, I just trying to compare it to "conventional" rigging.
