Re: Seacock Drain Plug Stripped

I would not trust my boat's flotation to a blob of silicone. And welding on a skin fitting in a GRP boat would probably burn a hole in the hull. I would replace the damaged fitting.

Re: Muffler/Exhaust - Freedom 39

I would have to respectfully disagree with Mike. I've had the 4-108's in several boats, including the boat I'm typing from, with 2 inch exhaust as standard. In any case it's 2 inch right at the manifold where it's still hot and once the exhaust hits the cool water stream at the mixing elbow it cond...

Jerry, I have the same equipment as you have, except I have the RFC35R rate compass. I never had lost compass data. Perhaps you can open the compass housing and have a look inside at the board and the connections. Perhaps the compass in dead; try to find out if it provides a signal. If you checked a...

Re: Dickinson Propane Heater Installation

Hello Van,

Your flue won't work too well when placed too close to the mast. So perhaps you can devise a way to move the flue away from the mast with two 45* flue elements?

Re: Freedom Mast Wedge Replacement

I put vaseline all over my mast and inside mast partners and cast a PU resin wedge on top of a plywood disk with a hole in it for the mast. The plywood disk was bolted temporarily to the under side of the deck to keep the mast in the center of the hole while the resin cured. The plywood also provide...

Re: F39 LAZY JACKS

Brian,

I have no reason to believe there are other, better techniques now. I've tried rivnuts but tore them out of the mast. The edge holding them in the mast is designed for sheet metal and too small to hold in carbon hole.

Re: Freedom Mast Wedge Replacement

I'm not a particularly "handy" guy. I'm sure there are other products out there that are better for less money, but I'm willing to pay some extra for a product that comes with idiot resistant instructions and all the bits-and-pieces you need to do the job rite. The next question is: How do you get ...

Bob,

This board has an excellent search function. I'm sure your questions have been asked and answered before.

Good luck,

Re: mast climbing solo under way

Phil,

There is a thread elsewhere on this board about mast climbing, both solo and assisted. Using water ballast is also discussed.
