Spinnaker solution for a Mull F30
As most all of you are aware, the gunmout spinnaker was and option on many Freedoms, including the Mull 30. Years ago I owned a wingmast 25 with the gunmount but was always skittish about flying the sail because you had to be careful about running backstays, etc. In fact, the guy who bought that boa...

Re: Engine failure adventure and the power of the internet
Good stories, been there, done that, I identify. I had a dead engine from a completely clogged primary filter, and no spare, about 50 miles offshore a few years ago. By the time we got to the shore a crewmember had figured out how to bypass the filter using the plastic barrel from a ballpoint pen, ...

Re: Engine failure adventure and the power of the internet
Geoff, That is exactly what I was thinking. Why the heck would you put an inacessable screen on the end of the pickup when you have all those nice replaceable filters between the tank and the engine. I am not absolutely sure if there is a screen in there but I suspect there is. This is another lesso...

Engine failure adventure and the power of the internet
Just returned from my summer cruise from the SF Bay down the coast to Monterey. I had planned to continue on to Moro Bay but got cold feet at Monterey and stayed there for several days gong out day sailing every day. It was absolutely beautiful sailing down there as usual. One day it was blowing 20-...

Re: In-Hull, Adjustable Angle Transducer
I have Freedom 30 #3 and just upgraded fro the original Datamarine instruments to Raymarine. The tramsducers, which were replaced same location slightly different bore, are installed several inches offset from centerline about two maybe 3 feet forward of the keel. There is no balsa at the ceneterlin...

Re: Diesel smell in cabin
I had a diesel smell in my F-30 and found a small leak in the bottom seam of the fuel tank. Replaced the tank to solve the problem. Ditto on my F30. Replaced the tank about 12 years ago. Spent a lot of time replacing banjo washers too.I always wondered what they were called. Thank you Freedom board...

F30 Hatch
By the way, the removal of the hatch covers was a bear due to the dissimilar metals issue with screws and hinge blocks. What worked extremely well was dremel fitted with a fiberglass re-enforced cutting wheel. I cut a slot in the Philips screws (none of which could be extracted using a Philips screw...

F30 Hatch lens replacement complete
I took input from the forum and decided to proceed with the hatch lens replacement as a DYI vice sending them to Select Plastics. The difference in cost was quite substantial. Select wanted $1000 to do the main and fwd hatches for my F30. Shipping would have been another $50. My total costs were $21...

Re: Engine Start Issue
Thanks for the many responses. In my case the solenoid always engages when I depress the start button so I am pretty confident the start button and wiring to the solenoid are OK. I do agree, however, the harness is a mess, and is on "the list". When I have gotten the engine to turn over, it does so ...
