Re: Replace batteries
Think the answer is it all depends on your situation. The simple answer to your first question is yes. Traditionally one has a separate starting battery v house bank. Generally starting batteries are built for a quick burst of high energy while house batteries are a slower, steadier draw. So the pla...

Re: Prop Suggestions for 28M
Sure can be tough to make way on the Piscataqua. Another factor to consider is the state of growth on the bottom and drive train. I had let growth go a bit last year and the drag was noticeable both sailing and motoring. Once the water temp goes up from mid summer on, growth rate seems to be much mo...

Re: Yanmar 3gmf 20 water pump belt
Maybe you already are aware but one other trick is to flip the decompression levers on the top of the engine. This will make it easier to turn. Then rotate the engine with a screwdriver under the belt to slide it off as Josh describes. Just have to remember to flip them back before starting the engi...

Re: Forestay Tension ?
So my jib had a little 3” tether at the tack with a snap-hook that I stopped using. Instead I am going right to the ring to secure the tack. Tightened up the Forestay per Josh. Will redo at the dock to see if the rig is too tight. Ironically upwind performance seems to have improved. Lashed the ring...

Forestay Tension ?
Hi, Recent Camberspar rigging posts have me thinking about Forestay tension. Is there any agreement on the forestay tension? Posts and opinions on this topic seem to run the gamut. Seems like it would not some slack to get the vanging effect and push forward. Especially to avoid dreaded banging on m...

Re: F30 Bottom Paint Estimate
1.5 Gallons. Might use the extra half for another coat especially on the waterline and rudder.
Defender has a nifty paint calculator that includes coverage by paint brands.

Re: Easylock lever replacement
Congratulations on your new boat ! For e- clips I use needle nose pliers and a rag as a catcher. One arm of the piers against the open end of the clip and the other on the shaft. Pop the clip and with the rag loosely around the fitting to catch the clip once it comes off. Some people like a flat scr...
