Re: 40/40 Rudder Bearing
No. I haven’t been able to get it to drop. Wondering if I have to remove the top bearing first.

Re: 40/40 Rudder Bearing
Hey Geoff, I spent a couple of hours trying to drop the rudder on my F40/40 today and it would t budge. We remove quadrant and pilot arm. Rudder spins freely and we can get to wobble just a bit. But it won’t drop down. Am I missing something? Everything is super clean and there don’t seem to be any ...

Re: Spartite removal/installation
Hey folks, kicking this thread back up! I just pulled the mast on my F 40/40. It came up and out very nicely, but I expected the ring to come with the mast. Instead both the metal ring and the urethane ring at the partners/deck stayed in place and the mast slid up and out no problem. The urethane ri...

Re: Freedom 40/40 boom vang adjustment (?)
We have a 40/40 and we have lazy jacks which help support the boom. However when there is wave action and the main isn’t full daises yet the bending of the mast as we go over waves can cause the boom to swing quite low. When the main is up, no problem. When dropped and we are motoring we generally t...

Re: Reefing Blocks in Boom
Hey folks I have the shuttle reefing blocks and they work well. But they clang around inside the boom a lot. It is really annoying. Do you folks have this problem or know of a solution for it?

Re: 40/40 Dingy davits, radar arch
Following! Would love to see photos of folks’ setups. I currently have neither which means towing or deflating and stowing dingy. The 40/40 has no decent place to keep on deck! I really hate to add hardware at the stern because I love the lines of the boat. But would love to see what others have don...

Re: Jib halyard being cut by broken mast head block
I just had to cut off a couple of feet and splice a new eye into my job halyard. It even had a special cover on it to protect it. I think it is being caused by the cotter pin in the clevis pin that the head stay attached to. We ran someone up the mast, replaced the cotter pin with a ring, tapped ove...

Re: Syntheic Headstay
I know the shackle is oriented wrong. It isn’t wide enough. I will have to replace it. In the meantime this shackle is way overkill so strength shouldn’t be a problem.
